Allah: The One and Only God in Islam

Allah is the Arabic word for God, used by Muslims and Arabic-speaking Christians and Jews. Allah is the proper name of the One True God, who created and sustains everything. Allah is neither male nor female, and cannot be divided into parts or pluralized. Muslims believe that Allah is the only one worthy of worship, and that He has sent many prophets and messengers to guide humanity.

Allah is the unseen God who created and controlled the universe. He says that the pre-Islamic Arabs worshipped Allah as the supreme deity, along with other lesser gods and idols. He also says that Allah has many beautiful names that describe his attributes and actions.

According to web search results, there are many verses in the Quran that are related to the question of who is Allah. Some of them are:

- "Say, \"He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.\" [Quran 112:1-4]

It is a concise and powerful statement of the Islamic belief in the oneness and uniqueness of Allah. It declares that Allah is the only true God, who is eternal and self-sufficient, who has no children or parents, and who has no equal or partner in his divinity. This text affirms the core doctrine of tawhid, or monotheism, which is the foundation of Islam. It also rejects any form of polytheism, idolatry, or associationism, which are considered to be the greatest sins in Islam. This text is often recited by Muslims as a testimony of faith, a prayer of praise, and a protection from evil.

- "Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great." [Quran 2:255]

This text is often recited by Muslims as a statement of faith, a reminder of Allah’s greatness, and a protection from harm.

- "He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor, the Fashioner; to Him belong the best names. Whatever is in the heavens and earth is exalting Him. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise." [Quran 59:22-24]

This text is often recited by Muslims as a way of praising Allah and remembering his greatness and mercy.

- "And your god is one God. There is no deity [worthy of worship] except Him, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful." [Quran 2:163]

It is a clear and concise statement of the Islamic belief in the oneness of Allah, which is the core of the Islamic faith. It asserts that Allah is the only true God, who deserves to be worshipped alone, without any partners or associates. It also highlights two of Allah’s most prominent attributes: his mercy and his compassion. He is the most merciful and the most compassionate to his creation, and he shows his mercy and compassion in various ways, such as forgiving sins, granting blessings, sending guidance, and relieving hardships.

- "And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein." [Quran 50:16]

It is a profound and powerful reminder of Allah’s knowledge and presence, which encompass everything. It states that Allah is the creator of man, and he knows everything that man thinks or feels, even the subtlest and most secret thoughts. It also states that Allah is closer to man than his jugular vein, which is a vital and sensitive part of the human body. This means that Allah is aware of everything that happens to man, and he is always near and ready to help him, if he turns to him sincerely. This text is often recited by Muslims as a way of acknowledging Allah’s omniscience and omnipresence, and seeking his guidance and assistance in all matters.
