Lessons Surah Al-Falak teaches us

Surah Al-Falak is the 113th chapter of the Quran and one of the four protective surahs that seek refuge in Allah from various evils. It was revealed in Mecca and consists of five verses. In this blog post, we will explore 10 lessons that Surah Al-Falak teaches us.

1. The importance of seeking refuge in Allah: The surah begins with the phrase "Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak" (Quran 113:1). This shows that we should always turn to Allah for protection and guidance, especially when we face difficulties or dangers. Allah is the Lord of daybreak, meaning He is the one who brings light and relief after the darkness and hardship of the night.

2. The evil of what He has created: The surah continues with "From the evil of what He has created" (Quran 113:2). This teaches us that Allah is not the source of evil, but He has created some things that have the potential to harm us, such as animals, diseases, natural disasters, etc. We should seek refuge in Allah from these evils and trust in His wisdom and justice.

3. The evil of the night when it settles: The surah then says "And from the evil of the night when it settles" (Quran 113:3). This reminds us that the night is a time when many evils can occur, such as theft, murder, witchcraft, etc. We should seek refuge in Allah from these evils and pray for His protection and peace.

4. The evil of those who practice witchcraft: The surah further states "And from the evil of those who practice witchcraft when they blow on knots" (Quran 113:4). This warns us about the reality and danger of witchcraft, which is a form of shirk (associating partners with Allah) and a major sin. Witchcraft involves using hidden forces and demonic entities to harm others or influence their affairs. We should seek refuge in Allah from these evils and avoid any involvement or contact with witchcraft.

5. The evil of the envier when he envies: The surah concludes with "And from the evil of the envier when he envies" (Quran 113:5). This alerts us to the harm and mischief that can be caused by envy, which is a feeling of resentment and hatred towards someone who has something that we desire or admire. Envy can lead to ill-will, backbiting, slander, violence, etc. We should seek refuge in Allah from these evils and purify our hearts from envy and its effects.

These are some of the lessons that Surah Al-Falak teaches. We should recite this surah regularly and sincerely, along with the other protective surahs (Al-Ikhlas, Al-Nas, and Al-Kafirun), to seek Allah's protection and mercy from all kinds of evils. May Allah protect us all and grant us His forgiveness and guidance. Ameen.
