Surrender tension to Allah
To explain with reference from the Quran and the Sunnah, surrendering to Allah means:
- Recognizing that He is the only one worthy of worship and obedience, and that He has full authority and knowledge over everything in the heavens and the earth¹³. Allah says in the Quran:
(Quran 11:123)And to Allah belongs the unseen (aspects) of the heavens and the earth, and to him return all affairs. So worship Him, and put your trust in Him. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do.
- Following His commands and teachings as revealed in the Quran and explained by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who is the best example of surrendering to Allah¹². Allah says in the Quran:
(Quran 24:54)Say, \"Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification.\"
- Trusting in His plan and wisdom for everything that happens to us, whether good or bad, and being content with His decree¹³. Allah says in the Quran:
(Quran 65:3)And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.
- Seeking His help and guidance in everything we do, and relying on Him alone for our needs and protection¹³. Allah says in the Quran:
(Quran 1:5-6)You alone we worship; You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the straight path.
- Doing our best to fulfill our duties and obligations, while leaving the outcome to Him¹². Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: \"Tie your camel first and then put your trust in Allah.\" (Narrated by at-Tirmizi)
