Condolences and Advice for Event Organizers in Extreme Weather Conditions

We express our condolences to the families of the eleven people who passed away due to sunstroke at an event attended by India's home minister on Sunday. A news article by Yahoo News UK quotes a local police official who said that the deaths were due to dehydration and exhaustion. It is important to note that the event was held outdoors in the afternoon, during a time when India is likely to experience heat waves between March and May, according to the weather office. We urge event organizers to prioritize the safety and well-being of attendees by taking necessary precautions in such extreme weather conditions.

Furthermore, as Muslims, we are taught to care for our bodies and avoid harm to ourselves and others. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said,

"There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm."

لاَ ضَرَرَ وَلاَ ضِرَارَ

(Sunan Ibn Majah)

Therefore, we call on all event organizers to take into consideration the well-being of attendees and prioritize safety measures in all their events.

May Allah protect us all from harm and guide us on the straight path. Ameen.
