You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams
This quote by Dr. Seuss expresses the feeling of being in love and finding happiness in reality rather than in dreams. It implies that love is a blessing that makes life worth living and that one should cherish it.
From an Islamic perspective, love is also a blessing from Allah and a sign of His mercy. Allah says in the Quran (interpretation of the meaning):
"And among His Signs is this, that He created for you wives from among yourselves, that you may find repose in them, and He has put between you affection and mercy. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who reflect." [30:21]
And,
"And He it is Who has created man from water, and has appointed for him kindred by blood, and kindred by marriage. And your Lord is Ever All‑Powerful to do what He wills." [25:54]
Love is a blessing that makes life worth living and that one should cherish. It is also a test and a responsibility that requires sincerity, devotion, and sacrifice. Rumi said: “Everyone sleeps, except lovers, who stay awake, telling stories to God.”
Therefore, Islam allows a high degree of passionate love within marriage, but prohibits it outside marriage. Islam teaches us to love Allah first and foremost, then His Messenger, then our fellow Muslims, then our spouses and families. Islam also teaches us to guard our chastity and modesty from any unlawful desires. Islam guides us to the true happiness and peace that comes from obeying Allah and following His laws.
Narrated Anas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said "None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind." Sahih al-Bukhari 15
