How Islam Reconciles Revelation and Reason with Observation and Experience

As a Muslim, I believe that human knowledge has two main sources: revelation and reason. Revelation is the direct communication from God to His prophets, who convey it to mankind through the scriptures and their teachings. Reason is the faculty that God has endowed human beings with to understand and interpret revelation, as well as to observe and analyze the natural world.

I think that observation and experience are compatible with revelation and reason. They are not opposed or contradictory to revelation and reason, but rather they are complementary and harmonious with them. Natural selection can only explain or describe the mechanism or process of evolution by adaptation to environmental conditions, but not its origin or purpose.
